What is the best pickle I can find in the grocery store?

My favorites are usually in the refrigerated section, near the sliced cheese. Bubbies and Grillos are my personal favorites. Bubbies are made in a salt brine, rather than vinegar, and are less sour than the pickles you might be used to (and are sometimes effervescent!) They have a unique flavor that you will likely grow to crave, and I always try to have a jar of them in the fridge for snacking!! Grillos are becoming very popular. They are fresh cucumbers swimming around in a container with a bunch of fresh herbs and stuff. They are a classic vinegar pickle. I love their logo art. Grillos and Bubbies also make some other fantastic products, like relishes, kraut, etc! Ranked 3rd in refrigerated pickles (but also delicious) is a Claussen. They are a great pickle. In the non-refrigerated section you can find some pretty great stuff, like Famous Dave's products. Until I learn otherwise, Famous Daves gets the top spot for creative flavors, and I love creative flavors. If I just want a regular dill pickle thought, I'll usually go for a Vlasic, but a Mount Olive is pretty good too. Many stores also have those big plastic jars of huge pickles, the type you might find on the counter at a high-quality gas station. You can also often buy these from vendors in rural Arizona, like the nice lady who runs a tent at my local softball league, either whole or chopped up on snowcones.

How Dangerous are Pickle Hooks?

They are very sharp and should be handled with care, but, as of yet, there is not a lot of data available on this subject. My intuition says that they are no more dangerous than a kitchen knife, and probably a lot less dangerous than the guy fishing next to you. I have rarely poked myself on a pickle hook, and I handle them all the time. My friend Adam told me that he dropped one in the sink under the soapy water and his wife poked herself on it, so DON'T DO THAT.

What is the coolest thing you have learned about pickles?

I invented the pickle hook by accident and then sought out a lot of input from basically anyone I met. I would usually be talking to somebody and then at a certain point, to find out if they would be willing to participate in Pickle Hooks R and D, I would ask them if they liked pickles, and nearly everyone said "oh man I LOVE pickles"

They exist all over the world. Almost everyone likes pickles. like probably 90+percent of people I have asked. That might be even more universal than malted milk balls, hamburgers or Takis!
